ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY OF JSC VITYAZ

The management and staff of Vityaz OJSC carry out production activities with an understanding of responsibility for the man-made impact on the environment, taking into account the requirements of environmental safety.

TARGET

Compliance with the requirements of environmental legislation in the course of production activities with the minimum possible negative impact on the environment.

TASKS

To identify, minimize and prevent the negative impacts of production activities on the environment, reducing emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere, waste generation and the amount of harmful substances in wastewater.

WAYS OF ACHIEVING THE OBJECTIVES

• Comply with the requirements of the current legislation of the Republic of Belarus and other requirements related to the environmental aspects of the activities of the joint-stock company;
• Strive to select the most efficient means of environmental management to use in production technologies, equipment and materials that have a minimal harmful impact on the environment and allow rational and efficient use of natural and energy resources;
• carry out systematic monitoring of the state of pollution sources that have a significant impact on the environment, as well as the environment itself, in order to timely develop and implement the necessary corrective and preventive actions; Evaluate the functioning of the environmental management system in order to identify opportunities for its continuous improvement;

• Make and implement management and production decisions, taking into account aspects of the planned activities, products and services provided;
• Provide periodic training and increase the level of environmental education of managers, specialists and employees of the enterprise;
• Inform the public and conduct an open dialogue with all stakeholders about activities in the field of environmental protection.
  
  

  ISO 14001

  Vityaz OJSC is a member of a group of enterprises (today there are only about 120 of them in Belarus) that operate a certified environmental management system. The environmental certificate of conformity characterizes the viability of Vityaz as a serious business partner and national manufacturer, which operates within the framework of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection, implementing effective measures to reduce the burden on the environment and switch to energy-saving innovative technologies. This is also a mandatory requirement when concluding many contracts and participating in tenders for the supply of products.

  The first environmental certificate of conformity under the ISO 14001 system was received by Vityaz on October 7, 2004. The validity period of the certificate is 3 years and now our company is periodically re-certified. The new version of STB ISO 14001-2005, which replaced the previous standard, imposes new requirements on the environmental management system and measures to improve it, as well as environmental targets and the environmental policy of the enterprise as a whole.
  
  

  TECHNOLOGIES

  
  

   In 2004, the company introduced an environmental management system and received a certificate of conformity Ecological BY/112 06.01.07400019. Re-certification of the environmental management system was carried out in 2016. In 2017, a planned inspection control was carried out by the State Institution “Center for International Environmental Projects, Certification and Audit “Ecologiyainvest” for the compliance of the EMS with the requirements of STB ISO 14001-2005 and compliance with the requirements of legislation in the field of protection environment, as a result of which the enterprise confirmed the previously received certificate of conformity Ecological BY/112 06.01.07400019, certifying that the environmental management system complies with the requirements of STB ISO 14001-2005 and applies to: design, production and maintenance of television and medical equipment, furniture and non-standardized equipment, production of building materials, plastic products and non-ferrous metal casting. Valid until October 31, 2019.

      In 2017, Vityaz OJSC received a comprehensive environmental permit to carry out activities related to the operation of facilities that have a complex impact on the environment, valid until September 30, 2022.

       In 2017, the necessary information and data were updated and entered into the Environmental Data Sheet of the enterprise. The state statistical reports were prepared on the areas of environmental protection.

      Work was carried out to update orders, instructions, guidelines, a register of important environmental aspects and other environmental documentation. Scheduled inspections of the company’s divisions were carried out in accordance with the approved production control schedule, as well as environmental audits in accordance with the approved schedule and plan for conducting inspections within the framework of the current environmental management system.

The activity of the enterprise in the field of environmental protection was aimed at compliance with environmental legislation, prevention of environmental pollution and continuous improvement of the environmental situation. Within the framework of the Environmental Management Program for 2014-2017, a number of measures were taken in the filed of the environmental management to improve the environmental situation at the enterprise and comply with the requirements of environmental legislation:
  

  In the resource saving and energy reduction section:
  
  - automatic ignition systems were introduced in front of the burners of the KVGM-100 and GM-50-14 boilers at the Yuzhnaya boiler house;
  - an air-heating boiler was introduced, operating on secondary energy resources of woodworking production (wood waste);
  - a galvanic oxidation line was introduced, which made it possible to improve the system for supplying and treating wastewater at industrial wastewater treatment plants, reduce water consumption, improve drinking quality and reduce energy consumption;
  - an automated water recycling system was introduced, which made it possible to reduce the consumption of process water;
  - energy-saving lamps were introduced to illuminate the boiler equipment of shop 146;
  - modernization of the heating control system at the Yuzhnaya boiler house was carried out;
  - a compressor was introduced in building 7, site 2 (maintenance and construction department), to maintain and distribute the optimal pressure in the compressed air system across the buildings of the wood-working shop.
  
  

  In the section on atmospheric air protection:
  
  - a major overhaul of the ventilation systems of the electroplating section and the printed circuit board section was completed with the replacement of steel air ducts with PVC ones;
  - equipped with filtration systems ventilation units on the oxidation line;
  - an inventory of emissions and draft standards for permissible emissions of Vityaz OJSC were completed;
  - an inspection was performed on the efficiency of the work of the GCU (gas cleaning units) with the issuance of new data sheets for the GCU;
  - hot washing baths 3G217.000.000-01, as well as baths for the activation of aluminum 3G217.000.000, on line No. 7 were equipped with the exhaust ventilation system;
  - ventilation was introduced at the site for crushing polystyrene foam packaging in building No. 6 of site No. 2;
  - in buildings No. 7, No. 22, sites No. 2, chip extractors were installed on woodworking equipment;
  - a system for monitoring the concentration of carbon monoxide was introduced with automatic shutdown of the gas supply at the Yuzhnaya boiler house.
  
  
  In the water reservoir protection section:
  
  - the event of the State Program for Clean Water for the modernization of industrial wastewater treatment facilities was completed.
  - As a result of joint financing by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Vityaz OJSC, a flotation unit was introduced, which makes it possible to significantly improve the quality of wastewater treatment from suspended solids and heavy metals;
  - a drainless flushing scheme was introduced for chromium plating of molds; pumping equipment of treatment facilities was upgraded;
  - the system of automatic regulation of the wastewater treatment process was modernized;
  - tests of filtering equipment were carried out;
  - modernization of equipment for the neutralization of chromium effluents (concentrated and flushing) was carried out at the site of treatment facilities for blank production;
  
  

  In the section on waste management and soil protection:
  
  - two sites for the collection of production waste were equipped and fenced;
  - as a secondary raw material, waste polystyrene foam liners are used for the production of polystyrene concrete blocks and insulation boards;
  - a site for the processing of expanded polystyrene was organized according to a temporary scheme, which made it possible to use secondary raw materials and waste of expanded polystyrene when casting shock absorbers, as an additive to the main raw material;
  - waste oil products and mercury-containing lamps were transferred to specialized organizations;
  - arrangement of a site with a fence for the collection and temporary storage of industrial waste at the Yuzhnaya boiler house was carried out;
  - at the Yuzhnaya boiler house, a concrete platform for dehydration and temporary storage of sludge formed during chemical water treatment was arranged near the sludge pond.
